2025 Toyota 4Runner is again announced and debuts on April 9.

The all-new Toyota 4Runner, which will be the sixth generation, is coming soon.

On Thursday, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner received yet another teaser on Instagram, with the automaker confirming that the SUV will make its debut on April 9.

The latest teaser confirms that the 4Runner's beloved drop-down rear window on the tailgate will carry over to the sixth-generation SUV. Power-operated through either the tailgate (the two buttons seen in the teaser) or the dashboard, the drop-down glass allows long objects to hang from the rear window while driving and fresh air to flow into the cabin.

The cabin will feature a 14.0-inch touchscreen mounted on the dashboard (an 8.0-inch touchscreen will be standard), a volume knob, and push start.

The previous teaser, released a week ago, revealed the SUV's rear bumper and lower tailgate. Like today's 4Runner, the tailgate sits low in the bumper, which should theoretically lower the liftover height and make it easier to load heavy items.

The new 4Runner will be mounted on Toyota's TNGA-F body-on-frame platform. This platform is shared with everything from the SUV's pickup sibling, the Tacoma mid-size truck, to its relatives, the Land Cruiser and Lexus GX. It is also shared with larger vehicles such as the Tundra full-size pickup and Sequoia SUV.

The new 4Runner is expected to dispense with the current model's naturally aspirated V-6 engine in favor of a turbo-4 engine with various power ratings. A hybrid powertrain option is expected in top trim along with an eight-speed automatic; a six-speed manual may mean the return of a manual transmission; and a six-speed automatic may mean the return of a four-speed manual transmission.
