2025 Infiniti QX80 with concept car appearance and turbo V6 power

The Infiniti QX80 has been redesigned for the 2025 model year, and the full-size SUV finally has the looks and features to rival existing luxury automakers.

But buyers will have to pay a premium: the 2025 QX80 will start at $84,445 this summer, including a $1,995 destination charge. This is a significant price increase from the 2024 model's $76,045.

The new QX80 is the third iteration of this nameplate. First unveiled last year with the QX Monograph Concept, its styling has been faithfully carried over to the production model. The front edge of the hood features low-profile daytime running lights with multiple LEDs, which Infiniti describes as digital keys, and below them is a separate cluster of main driving lights flanked by Infiniti's latest version of a double-arch grille

The side windows are located at the rear of the car.

The sides are a clear evolution of the current QX80, with the designers even retaining the QX80's front fender portholes. The overall design, however, is more contemporary, with cleaner surfaces and crisper shoulder lines. At the rear, the taillights follow the width of the body, and Infiniti has repeated the digital key motif here, adding further character.

The interior is a far more radical advance from the current model's design. Infiniti has taken the interior of the QX80 even further, seamlessly blending modern digital screens with traditional materials such as leather, suede, and wood.

Two 14.3-inch screens are positioned above the dashboard and serve as the instrument cluster and infotainment hub. The infotainment system is powered by Android and features Google built-in and includes all popular apps such as Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Play Store.

A third 9.0-inch screen is located on the center console and allows for climate control settings and front seat controls. The screen has tactile feedback, but buyers tend to prefer actual buttons and knobs for frequently used functions. Below this screen are push-button controls for the transmission, which the driver can further control via the multifunction steering wheel.

A head-up display is also available, and camera monitors can be added to both the exterior and interior. Infiniti is focused on improving exterior visibility with its multi-angle surround view camera system. Transparent hood technology and a front-view feature that provides a 170-degree view of the front and sides of the vehicle facilitate tight parking maneuvers and tricky off-road trails.

The 2025 QX80 can seat seven or eight passengers and, according to Infiniti, has more knee room in each of the three rows. Cargo space is also up, although Infiniti did not provide measurements. A power tailgate is standard. For audiophiles, Infiniti has included a premium sound system from Klipsch of America as standard equipment. The standard system has 14 speakers, but a 24-speaker version is also available.

Like its predecessor, the 2025 QX80 uses a body-on-frame platform. To improve handling, engineers have used double wishbone independent suspension front and rear. Air suspension and adjustable dampers are also available. 20-inch wheels are standard, but 22-inch wheels are also available.

A major difference between the new QX80 and the current model is that all models now come standard with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that produces 450 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. This is a significant increase in power compared to the current QX80's 5.6-liter V-8 engine, which produces 400 hp and 413 lb-ft. When properly equipped, the towing capacity is 8,500 lbs.

Infiniti will offer four grades of the 2025 QX80: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Autograph. The Pure has a base price of $84,445 and the Luxe starts at $91,545. Both come standard with rear-wheel drive, and adding all-wheel drive costs $3,100. Both the Sensory and Autograph come standard with all-wheel drive, priced at $102,640 and $112,590, respectively. Both include destination.

Along with the new QX80, Nissan's twins, the Armada and Patrol, were redesigned. Like the current models, Nissan's new SUVs are likely to be closely related to the new QX80, sharing platforms and powertrains.
