The new AMG-inspired Cigarette Racing boat with six engines and 2,700 horsepower.
Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing have teamed up again for another special edition boat. The 59-foot Tiranna AMG Edition, unveiled last week at the 2020 Miami International Boat Show, is the 12th boat to result from the partnership between the two performance brands.
AMG's performance studio in Affalterbach, Germany, also designed a one-off G63 in the same livery as the boat.
As with its land-based performance cars, Cigarette Racing used carbon fiber to reduce weight. This lightweight material was used throughout the entire superstructure of the boat, not just the hardtop. The carbon fiber hardtop also lowers the boat's center of gravity and improves handling, according to the Florida-based company.
Power comes from six Mercury Racing 450R V-8 outboard engines, each producing 450 hp for a total of 2,700 hp. According to Cigarette Racing, the top speed is 80 mph.
The boats also have gyrostabilizers that reduce roll by 80% and bow and stern thrusters that facilitate docking.
By comparison, the Mercedes-AMG G63 designed to fit this boat, known as the G63 Cigarette Edition, is powered by the brand's ubiquitous 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that produces 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque The car will have a 0-60 mph range. This SUV accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. Top speed is 137 mph with the standard version and 149 mph with the optional driver's package.
The exterior of the SUV is colored in the same black and gold as the boat, and the interior is a combination of macchiato beige and dark blue nappa leather; according to AMG, this is the first time a special edition cigarette racing boat with the same interior This is the first vehicle to have the same interior as the special edition Cigarette racing boat, according to AMG.
Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing have been collaborating since 2007, during which time they have produced a line of special edition boats inspired by models such as the AMG GT R sports car and the AMG One hypercar.
