For sale is a brand new 1990 Chevrolet SS 454 pickup truck.
Taking a new toy out of its packaging is a child's greatest delight. It's a special feeling to be the "first" to enjoy something new. Imagine having a full-size collectible pickup truck and being able to unwrap it. That might be more enjoyable than a new Hot Wheels toy.
Today's pickup, a 1990 Chevrolet SS 454, is probably one of the "freshest" cars on ClassicCars.com, despite being 30 years old. 1990-1993 Chevrolet C/K This was a special high-performance version of the half-ton pickup.
The powertrain for the SS was a 7.4 liter big-block V8 developing 230 hp. This power seems insufficient for an engine of this size these days, but it was enough to get the car to 60 mph in less than 8 seconds. Only 17,000 SS were produced, and this model became one of the few trucks of its time, which were sold in tens of thousands in other bodies and configurations. It was an exclusive, low-production, rare car, built on the basis of a truck that at that time was sold by the tens of thousands.
And somehow one of those 17,000 Chevrolet trucks managed to live to 2020 with only 26 miles on the odometer. A dealer in Sarasota, Florida, advertises this truck as "brand new, never used, with plastic on the seats," and photos in the ClassicCars.com gallery back up that claim: the entire interior is covered in a protective film.
"Simply put, it's brand new in every way," the seller adds.
For the opportunity to be the first owner to unpack this truck, the selling price is $52,900.
