Hyundai N enjoys the hot version of the Palisade and the Prophecy Concept design.
On April Fool's Day, Hyundai's N Performance Skunkworks project unveiled tuned versions of several Hyundai vehicles that aren't so keen on getting the N treatment.
On Wednesday, Hyundai's N Instagram page posted concept drawings of what the N-tuned versions of the three-row Palisade SUV, the fuel cell-powered Nexo SUV, and the battery-powered Prophecy concept car would look like.
Each vehicle is dressed in Hyundai's signature blue N color and fitted with not the most obvious dodger. Oddly, the Nexo N is shown with four exhaust pipes, even though the Nexo only puts out water. (This is because a fuel cell SUV like the Nexo N would be a niche version of an already niche vehicle. As for the Prophecy N, the vehicle on which the design is based is pure concept at this stage.
The Palisade is powered exclusively by a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 291 hp; a good option for the N version would be the newly developed twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that debuted on the Genesis G80 in 2021. It makes 375 hp in the Genesis, which is probably a conservative tuning for this engine. If you bump that engine up to 450 hp and tune the rest of the chassis accordingly, Hyundai would have a great family vehicle.
Hyundai N may not be working on these models, but that doesn't mean the company doesn't have new products: the i20 N subcompact hatch and the Kona N compact SUV are in development. In addition, a standalone sports car is in development, as well as a likely electric car.
