The watch is powered by a Bugatti W-16 engine.
What watch could rival the Bugatti Chiron? Maybe a watch with a miniature replica of the hypercar's four-turbo W-16 engine? This Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon by Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon.
The watch (on the Motor1 website) is a replica of a real working W-16 engine, consisting of 578 parts. Pressing the crown on the right side drives all the innards of the engine, from the miniature pistons and crankshaft to the tiny turbine. The fuel indicator shows how much battery power is left. It operates without a full tank of gasoline.
The engine is housed under a sapphire crystal and mounted on four shock absorbers in a 54 x 44 mm titanium case. The watch has a rubber strap with a titanium clasp. Titanium parts are also used in the real Chiron, and Bugatti has 3D printed the titanium parts.
The price of the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon is $280,000, which may seem expensive to the average person, but not to those who would pay over $3 million for a car that served as inspiration.
This is not the first Bugatti-themed watch designed by Jacob & Co. Its previous models, the Twin Turbo Furious and Epic X Chrono, are also dedicated to the French automaker. [Watches inspired by automakers such as Ferrari are commonplace. In addition, one-off watches have been released using the original "Bullitt" Mustang paint. These were raffled off for charity in 2019.
