Spy shots and video of the 2021 Porsche 911 GT3
Porsche has reached the finish line in the development of a track-ready 911 GT3 based on the latest generation 911 992
The car, which was spotted in the Porsche Super Bowl LIV commercial in January, will soon see the final camouflaged elements, shown here. be removed. will be removed.
The prototype can be recognized by distinctive elements such as twin exhaust tips mounted in the center of the rear, center-locked wheels and huge carbon-ceramic brake rotors. The prototype also features a sexy wide dodger characteristic of the 992 generation, shared with the recently introduced 911 Turbo S
. And at the rear is an enlarged rear antifender, which should give a more refined design to the production model.
The previous GT3 was powered by a 4.0-liter six with 500 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque, revving briskly to 9,000 rpm.
We know that the GT3 will be powered by a naturally injected engine, though there are rumors that Porsche may switch to turbocharging to boost the track-focused 911's performance. Indeed, it will be the new 4.0-liter six that debuted on the 911 Speedster in 2019, with a maximum output of 502 hp.
The only transmission should be an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, but Porsche may appease fans of manual transmissions by making them available on the successor to the previous GT3 Touring, which was equipped with a six-speed manual.
In addition, a new GT3 Cup racing variant and a hardcore GT3 RS are on the horizon.
The GT3 should be available in the coming months, and in showrooms late this year or early next year.
