2026 Ferrari EV Test Drive Revealed

Ferrari is working on an electric car scheduled to debut in late 2025, and test mules have been spotted.

A test mule is an early-stage prototype, where engineers use a makeshift body.

In the case of Ferrari's EV, engineers used a Maserati Levante body for the test mule. The headlights were taken from a Ferrari Roma coupe, and the exhaust tips were dummy units to fool onlookers. The oddly shaped wheels are believed to be a possible production aerodynamic design.

Although the test mule does not reveal much about the appearance of Ferrari's EV, rumors suggest that the EV will be an SUV, given that the Levante body is used. The Levante body was also used in the test mule during the development of Ferrari's Prosangue SUV, and the Prosangue has been spotted with the EV test mule.

Ferrari has not revealed any details about its EV, except for a late 2025 release date, and has further confirmed that production will begin in early 2026 at the new E-Building at Ferrari's Maranello headquarters.

Patents on Ferrari's EV technology have surfaced over the years, including one on a three-motor powertrain with different ways to create the emotional sound that is the biggest selling point of Ferrari's gasoline engine range

Ferrari's own “Ferrari” is a “Ferrari”.

As well as the gas powertrain, Ferrari plans to develop its own electric motors, inverters, and batteries, aiming for industry-leading figures in weight and power density. There are also areas where Ferrari will work with partners, particularly with regard to advanced battery technologies such as solid-state batteries, which Ferrari has said it has been exploring for some time.

Prices are rumored to start at over 500,000 euros (about $554,000). To alleviate concerns about battery failure after the new car's warranty expires, Ferrari may offer an extended warranty program that includes regular battery replacement, similar to plug-in hybrids.
