VW ID.Buzz upfit brings peace, love and e

Volkswagen may be preparing to introduce a California-style ID.Buzz built for camp patrons.

The Seattle company, which specializes in restoring and modifying VW microbuses, has announced a number of upfit options for the latest ID.Buzz, the spiritual successor to the microbus, including offering its own EV conversion of the van icon. The ID. .Buzz is expected to arrive at dealerships later this year, and Peace Vans is taking reservations for several options.

The company has three basic packages: box, sleeper, and camper. The box is designed for day trips and is ideal for tailgating, as it essentially replaces the third row of seats in the ID.Buzz has a built-in kitchen. Customers looking for a van that can sleep should opt for the sleeper or camper option.

Sleepers add a folding bed to the box's kitchen, while campers add a lounge that can be converted into a kitchen and bed. Campers will need to remove two rows of seats, making the ID.Buzz strictly a two-seater.

Pricing for the package starts at $7,995 and varies depending on the options selected. Peace Vans also offers custom van rentals for occasional camping trips.

Pricing information for the ID.Buzz has not been released, but base prices are expected to start around $65,000. All models will be powered by a 91 kwh battery and are expected to have a range of approximately 260 miles, and buyers can choose between a 282 hp single-motor rear-wheel-drive powertrain and a 335 hp dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain.

Peace Van said it will procure the ID.Buzz for modifications or customers can bring their own vehicles.
