2025 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 Pro, focus on aero and cooling

Mercedes-Benz AMG has unveiled another new AMG GT coupe variant.

On Thursday, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ debuted with a revised design that optimizes the car's aerodynamics for downforce and cooling. According to Mercedes, it will be available at dealerships in 2025, with pricing yet to be determined.

Trigger warning: it will be expensive.

AMG said the focus of the upgraded aero on the AMG GT Pro is to improve longitudinal and lateral dynamics on the track. The model-specific front mask has been increased with larger carbon fiber air deflectors for the side intakes. All of this is in an effort to direct more air into the front end to cool the powertrain and brakes. Active aero is part of the package, closing off portions of the front end and underbody panels, and fins by the axles accelerate airflow under the body. A fixed rear wing helps maintain rear attitude. According to Mercedes, these changes will reduce front-axle lift by 66 pounds and increase rear-axle downforce by about 33 pounds, improving high-speed stability.

Carbon ceramic brake rotors (16.5 inches at the front) are paired with six-piston fixed front calipers and single-piston floating calipers. According to Mercedes, these front rotors are currently the largest standard AMG brakes available. The brakes are hidden behind AMG-branded lightweight 21-inch forged wheels in Himalayan gray matte paint, wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires. Tire sizes are 295/30ZR21 at the front and 305/30ZR21 at the rear, wide; AMG said it will offer the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R, a virtually road-legal racing slick tire, as a free option.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine bearing the AMG name produces 603 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and has a top speed of 197 mph.

Buyers seeking even more power and speed can choose the next 2025 Mercedes-Benz with 805 hp and 1,047 lb-ft of torque. AMG GT 63 S E Performance would opt for the AMG GT 63 S E Performance.

The professional twin-turbo V-8 has improved cooling performance thanks to an upgraded hot and cold cooling circuit: two radiators are located in each of the front wheel arches to improve airflow and keep temperatures cooler on the track.

AMG added top-mounted radiators in the front and rear differentials and in the transfer case of the all-wheel drive system, all of which are actively cooled. An electric water pump moves coolant continuously through the circuit to dissipate heat.

Most of the upgrades to the AMG GT 63 Pro are feature-related. Design changes are limited to the standard carbon fiber package with the front splitter, side sill trim, rear diffuser, and rear wing all made of bare carbon fiber.

Inside the coupe, performance seats and a steering wheel wrapped in both leather and suede are standard.
