Morgan reveals a midsummer roadster designed by Pininfarina

Morgan on Thursday Midsummer, a low throw that combines Morgan's typical old-world British charm and Italian elegance infused by Pininfarina

In a true coach building style, Midsummer features a unique body written by Pininfarina and draped over an existing chassis. In this case, Morgan's modern Bond aluminum CX generation platform.

It also uses Morgan's current range-top powertrain, the turbocharged 3.0-litre Inline 6, which it shares with Morgan's Plus Six. The engine is rated at 335 horsepower and powers the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic.

But outright performance is not the purpose of the game in the case of midsummer, and not Morgan for that matter. According to Morgan, the car was built as a celebration of the coach building, but also as a subtle preview of Morgan's evolving design language, especially when it comes to fender surfacing.

Stainless steel runs along the bottom of the car, and the exposed wood forms a ring around the cabin, nodding to the wooden frame previously used by Morgan for the body. It is also a lightweight forged wheel that measures 19 inches in diameter and is wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires unique to the design.

The interior is also unique. Handmade in the UK, the new analog gauge is finished in an off-white color and looks both modern and classic at the same time. The digital screen is still in front of the driver and is combined with a handle with a solid aluminum core. The car also features a new Sennheiser audio system with new dashboard controls.

The car's target dry weight is just over 2,200 pounds.

The Midsummer is expected to officially debut in 2024 during the Goodwood Festival Of Speed in the UK on 7 May, with production expected to continue later this year. Only 50 examples are destined to be built. Morgan said the increase in the proportion of tire-to-wheel rim ratio will be used in future flagship models, introducing more period aesthetics.
