2025 BMW M4 CS hot laps the ring
BMW unveiled the new M4 CS earlier this week, a track-focused coupe offered as a 2025 model at a limited price starting at $124,675, including a $1,175 destination charge.
In a new video, the car laps the full 12.9-mile course of the Nürburgring in Germany in 7 minutes, 21.99 seconds. This is less than two seconds off the pace of the more extreme M4 CSL, which was announced as a limited edition for 2023.
The CS bridges the gap between the M4's regular grade, the Competition, and the top-of-the-line CSL, although the CS has the same horsepower as the CSL, a powerful 543 hp produced by BMW M's familiar twin turbo 3.0-liter inline-6, However, it does not have the lightweight modifications of the CSL. It also retains the all-wheel drive system, whereas the CSL is rear-driver-only.
The all-wheel drive system of the M4 CS was developed specifically for this model. The standard system is rear-biased, and this bias can be further adjusted through the 4WD Sport mode. There is also an option to send all drive torque to the rear wheels only if the driver wants the classic rear-wheel drive feel.
The M4 CS also features increased body rigidity with additional bracing, stronger brakes (carbon ceramic rotors are also available), and various weight reduction measures. The cabin also features unique elements, such as model-specific graphics on the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen.
BMW's 3 Series sedan will get the CS treatment in 2024, and BMW is also preparing a CS version of the M3 Touring for sale abroad.
The arrival of the M4 CS is timed to coincide with a mild update to the full 4 Series range to be introduced in 2025. Among the updates are headlight and taillight design tweaks, more standard equipment, and the addition of mild hybrid technology on some grades.
