2025 Ram 1500 RHO with TRX suspension and Turbo 6 power

Ram is making a splash with its new electric and plug-in hybrid pickups, but the brand has not forgotten its sport trucks. On Thursday, Ram provided details on the upcoming 2025 Ram 1500 RHO pickup, the in-market successor, if not spiritual successor, to the Ram TRX. The pickup will join the Ram brand's other sport trucks, the Ram 1500 Warlock and Level, and the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Level and Power Wagon.

All Ram 1500 variants benefit from a mid-cycle update to the current model, which includes a switch from available V-8 power to a new Hurricane twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-6. RHO models have a maximum output of 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque, and the four-wheel drive system operates full-time and includes a two-speed transfer case that allows a 2.64:1 crawl ratio. Ram claims a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 13.1 seconds, and a top speed of 118 mph, which appears to be limited by the speed rating of the 325/65R18 Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT off-road tires. While these figures are a far cry from the 702 hp of the Ram 1500 TRX's supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, the RHO inherits the TRX's other capabilities.

These include the TRX's suspension, which includes rear coil springs, 5-link rear suspension, Bilstein Blackhawk E-squared remote reservoir adaptive shocks, and long-travel forged aluminum control arms. It also has the same 13-inch front and 14-inch rear wheel travel. However, Ram states that because the RHO weighs 150 pounds less than the TRX and 180 pounds less up front, the company's engineers retuned the dampers and suspension to improve the weight difference and overall weight balance.

At the rear, RHO uses Dana 60 solid axles and electronic rear lockers; RHO's Goodyear's tires are 35" with optional beadlock-compatible wheels. The tires contribute to an 11.8-inch ground clearance, 2.0 inches higher than other Ram 1500s. According to Ram, the RHO cannot be fitted with 37-inch tires at full steering angle, but has a 32-inch water immersion capacity. It can also tow up to 8,380 pounds and has a maximum payload of 1,520 pounds.

The RHO also features a wider body from the TRX: it is 88 inches wide, about 8 inches wider than other Ram 1500s, to accommodate the 6.0-inch wide track and wider tires.

Still, Ram insists that the RHO is not a replacement for the TRX. A company spokesperson stated that if the TRX were ever to be resurrected, it would be with a suitable engine. In other words, the new TRX would have the crazy power of its predecessor.

The RHO is only a crew cab and a 5-foot-7 bed. The truck's design includes LED headlights topped with a dark blow that increases the width of the vehicle, unique grille texture, the RAM logo mounted on a flow-through grille, front and rear tow hooks, and unique ends that are common to the Ram Rebel but unique for RHO's extra width. New front bumper with caps, etc.; RamBox storage system not available on widebody. Two-tone paint is standard, and the hood has a functional scoop that filters water and debris from reaching the engine; RHO customers can choose full-length rock rails or powder-coated aluminum running boards.

Ram offers RHO nine drive modes. These are selectable via buttons on the dashboard and include Sport, Baja, Tow, Snow, Auto, Custom, Mud/Sand, Rock, and Valet modes. Launch control buttons are also located in the same location.

On the interior, the RHO comes standard with memory, heating and cooling, massage functions, and 12-way power adjustable front seats upholstered in leather and suede with gray or red accents. 12.3-inch digital meter cluster, 12.0-inch or 14.5-inch center touchscreen (vertical), and a 10.3-inch passenger screen; the IP and center screen display performance and off-road information; the RHO also offers an optional 10.0-inch heads-up display The RHO also offers an optional 10.0-inch head-up display. There is a multi-function switch bank on the dashboard, dual wireless charging pads on the center console, and a RHO badge with rhino graphics and the truck's VIN number.

Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, active lane control, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Ram also offers driver attention monitors, a surround-view camera system, traffic sign recognition, and intersection collision warning.

Pricing for the Ram 1500 RHO starts at $71,990, including a $1,995 destination fee, and can be ordered today. Deliveries will begin in the third quarter of this year.
