2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition, V-8 option ends

Jeep Wrangler will bid farewell to the V-8 engine after the 2024 model year, with a limited-edition model as its last hurrah.

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition is the last iteration of the Rubicon 392 grade, featuring an 8,000-pound-rated Warn winch, Mopar grille guard and lock sliders, 11.6 inches of ground clearance and a half-inch suspension lift that produces 34.5 inches of waterproofing, and Final Edition hood and front fender decals will be added. The Final Edition also includes the Extreme 35 tire package with 35-inch tires and bronze 17-inch beadlock-compatible wheels.

On the interior, the Rubicon 392 Final Edition features 12-way power front seats in black nappa leather with Maya Gold stitching and Tupelo highlights, along with special shifter medallions and tailgate information plates. The Jeep includes a folding table, tool kit, and air compressor.

The Wrangler Rubicon 392, unveiled in November 2020, is powered by a 6.4-liter V-8 engine with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 48:1 crawl ratio four-wheel drive system, making the V 8 cylinder pushes the Wrangler from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds (factory estimate) and 1/4 mile in 13.0 seconds.

Sterantis, Jeep's parent company, is phasing out the V-8 engine; the V-8 Dodge Charger and Challenger will cease production with the 2023 model year, replaced by a turbo six-cylinder and a new electric-powered Charger. The Dodge Durango will lose its V-8 as it launches its own run-out special series, starting with the SRT 392 AlcHemi.

Jeep will limit production of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition to 3,700 units, including 3,300 for the US, 300 for Canada, and 100 for other markets. Prices start at $101,890.

The Wrangler lineup received several updates for the 2024 model year, including a new infotainment system, side airbags as standard equipment, and mechanical changes to improve off-road performance. The current JL Wrangler will remain around for a few more years, with a successor called the J70 with a plug-in hybrid and all-electric in 2028.
