2024 Nissan GT-R adds Skyline and Takumi special editions

Nissan is not done updating the 2024 GT-R, which went on sale last summer starting at $122,885 including a $1,895 destination charge.

On Friday, Nissan announced new T-spec Takumi and Skyline special editions that will be available exclusively this summer. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.

The T-spec Takumi edition was developed as a tribute to the artisans, known as Takumi, who are responsible for the hand-assembly of the GT-R's 3.8-liter V6 twin-turbo engine. It features a Midnight Purple paint job and Moly Green interior. The VIN plate is also unique under the hood, with gold and red lettering on the plate with the name of the person who was in charge of the engine.

Like the other 2024 GT-R T-spec models, the Takumi edition is based on the GT-R's premium grade and is given several extras, including the hardcore Nismo grade. These include wider front fenders, carbon ceramic brake rotors, gold-painted 20-inch wheels, and a leather and suede interior.

The Skyline Edition is also based on the premium grade and features the R34 Skyline GT-R's signature Bayside Blue paint. The interior trim is a new sky blue color, Sola Blue.

Additional horsepower has not been announced and is comparable to the 565 horsepower of the regular premium grade.

According to Nissan, the GT-R's front and rear fascia and rear wing designs have been redesigned for the 2024 model year to improve downforce while reducing aerodynamic drag. The 600 hp Nismo grade also features a newly designed rear wing with swan-neck style struts and a 10% larger surface area Other changes announced for 2024 include the return of the T-spec grade and some heritage color schemes.

The current GT-R, known internally as the R35 to those who know the GT-R from the Skyline, has been on sale since the 2009 model year. Nissan has remained silent on plans for the next GT-R, the R36, but has hinted at a new platform and possibly some form of electrification.
