2024 Lexus RX adds $70,080 450h+ plug-in hybrid grade

Following its 2023 redesign, the Lexus RX will welcome the 2024 model year with a new plug-in hybrid grade.

The RX 450h+ is already offered internationally, but is only now finally reaching dealerships in the U.S. Lexus announced pricing on Tuesday, starting at $70,080 including destination.

The RX 450h+ is Lexus' second plug-in hybrid, following the mechanically similar smaller NX 450h+. It is pricier, but comes standard with all-wheel drive and many of the RX's premium features.

The powertrain's internal combustion engine is a 2.5-liter inline-4 with an 18.1 kwh lithium-ion battery. Lexus has not revealed any details about the powertrain (including power), but in other markets the RX 450h+ will produce a total of 302 hp. According to Lexus, 0-60 mph acceleration can be expected in 6.2 seconds and a pure electric range of 35 miles.

Standard features on the RX 450h+ include 21-inch wheels, a heads-up display, leather trim, heated and cooled seats, a panoramic glass roof with roof rails, and ambient lighting. A standard 14-inch touchscreen serves as the infotainment hub, and audiophiles will find a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also offered.

Buyers can choose from eight exterior colors and three interior colors. The interior can also be dressed in Ash Bamboo or Black Open Pore Accents.

Like all RXs, the RX 450h+ comes standard with active safety technology that Lexus calls Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. These include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and active lane control. Also available is a Park Assist system with remote parking, which allows the driver to control the car from outside using an app to park in tricky spots.
