Hennessey Offers 850-HP Option for 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse
The redesigned 2024 Ford Mustang is not even in showrooms yet, but Texas tuner Hennessey Performance already has an upgrade for the track-focused Mustang Dark Horse variant that boosts output to 850 hp The performance upgrade, however, will be available only in the Mustang Dark Horse variant, which is designed for track use. However, this performance upgrade will add $49,950 to the Mustang Dark Horse price.
The new Mustang will arrive in dealerships later this summer and will share much of its mechanicals with the current car, including the 5.0-liter V-8 found in the GT and Dark Horse variants.
Hennessey already has a lot of experience with this engine, having tuned it for the F-150 and the previous generation Mustang. But the 850-horsepower upgrade, known as the H850, is the most ambitious to date.
The engine is already producing 500 hp in stock form, but Hennessey has installed a supercharger. This is joined by a high-flow intake, upgraded fuel injectors, and a new fuel pump. Hennessey also added its own engine management software to ensure that everything runs smoothly. The result is a 70 percent increase in horsepower. Buyers can choose between the Mustang's 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic.
But Hennessey is not stopping there. Hennessey's H850 upgrade also includes an aerodynamic package consisting of a carbon fiber front splitter, side skirts, and rear spoiler. A set of forged wheels completes the list of performance modifications.
To enhance the style of the vehicle, there are headrests with the word "Hennessey" embroidered on them. The same lettering and the Hennessey H logo can also be found on the exterior. A Hennessey heritage-style graphics package can also be added.
Hennessey has not provided a performance estimate for the H850 Mustang Dark Horse.
