Electric Sedan Designed by Former Lamborghini Designer Unveiled
Aera, an Italian EV startup with former Lamborghini design boss Filippo Perini as co-founder and head of design, will present its second model at the 2023 Milan Motor Show on unveiled on Friday.
As Aehra had previously teased, the second model is simply called a sedan. It follows the Aera SUV announced last November; Aehra had previously said that the SUV would go into production in 2025, with the sedan to follow a year later, but in its latest press release, Aehra now says it aims to begin deliveries of both models in 2026
Sedan has stated.
The sedan has a radical one-box shape with very short overhangs and little or no perceptible hood or trunk surface. Perini promises that this appearance will be similar to the styling of the final production car. The Aera did not reveal its interior, but it will probably resemble the cabin of an SUV. In other words, the dashboard will have a screen that fills the entire width of the dashboard, with screens on either side showing images from the cameras.
Aera aims to give both models, which feature electric drive, a range of 497 miles (perhaps measured on a more lenient European test cycle). The startup is working with Austria-based Miba Battery Systems to develop a "bespoke battery solution" that focuses on efficiency and battery serviceability.
The battery hardware is tailored to fit Aehra's EV platform, and in the sedan the cooling and aerodynamic elements are housed low in the car for a clean look. Carbon fiber composite materials will also be used to reduce weight.
Aehra said the first customer deliveries, scheduled for 2026, will target "key markets" including North America, Europe, China, and the Gulf states.
