2024 BMW 4 Series Convertible Spy Shot
The entire BMW 4 Series lineup gets a light refresh.
The 2024 BMW 4 Series Convertible, spotted with the 4 Series Coupe and the hotter M4 Variant, was undergoing high-speed circuit testing at the Nürburgring. The prototype had been tweaked front and rear end and interior technology.
The current 4 Series Convertible debuted in 2020 as a 2021 model, with an oversized kidney grille, a soft top instead of a retractable hard top, and no manual transmission.
The convertible's design updates mimic those of the coupe. In addition to the front and rear end, the 4 Series Convertible features revised headlights and taillights. The front LED daytime running lights now feature vertical elements similar to those on the 2024 5 Series sedan; spy shots of the 4 Series coupe showed a heavily camouflaged rear diffuser on the M Sport model, indicating a new design . This will most likely be used on the convertible as well.
According to the spy photographer, the prototype's dashboard was heavily camouflaged; BMW's latest dashboard features a digital meter cluster and infotainment touchscreen housed under a single curved sheet of glass, with the latest iDrive infotainment software. Most of the buttons have been eliminated, leaving the controls to the touchscreen interface, but the volume knob remains; expect to see this layout in the 4 Series convertible as well.
The base model is expected to continue to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four with approximately 255 hp and 294 lb-ft of torque. The more powerful M440i model will be equipped with a 3.0-liter turbo 6-cylinder inline 6 with a mild hybrid system (maximum output of approximately 382 hp and maximum torque of approximately 364 lb-ft). An eight-speed automatic will remain the only transmission option.
The 4 Series convertible is expected to debut after the coupe and before the performance M4.
