2023 Range of GMC Hummer EV Pickup Increased to 355 Miles

GMC's Hummer EV pickup is now in its second year of availability for the 2023 model year, with a more efficient wheel and tire option that improves range.

Also available is a new body style for the Hummer EV SUV, introduced for the 2024 model year.

Both body styles are available in the range-topping Edition 1 grade and the new 3X grade. Both have a three-motor powertrain setup (one motor front, two motors rear) with power ratings of 1,000 hp for the pickup and 830 hp for the SUV.

Also, the pickup has a longer wheelbase than the SUV (126.7 inches for the SUV and SUVs have a battery capacity of 170 kwh, while pickups have a battery capacity of 200 kwh.

The new "3X" grade comes standard with 22-inch wheels and 35-inch all-terrain tires, a combination that is expected to increase the pickup's maximum range to 355 miles. the 3X has the same "Edition 1" Extreme Off-Road Package as standard equipment. This package adds 35-inch mud-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels and lowers the estimated range to 329 miles. This package also adds items such as underbody protection and cameras.

Similarly, the estimated maximum range of the SUV with standard wheels and tires is 314 miles. When the Extreme Off-Road Package is added, the estimated range drops to 298 miles.

All range estimates were provided by GMC, but according to the automaker, they were calculated using the same methodology as the EPA.

Towing capacity for pickups is up to 8,500 pounds for standard and 7,500 pounds for the Extreme Off-Road Package; SUV towing capacity is up to 7,500 pounds for standard and 7,500 pounds for the Extreme Off-Road Package.

Prices for the 2023 Hummer EV 3X Pickup start at $106,245 and the 2023 Hummer EV Edition 1 Pickup starts at $110,295. SUV prices are a bit lower, starting at $99,995 for the 2024 Hummer EV 3X SUV, 2024 Hummer EV Edition 1 SUV starts at $105,595. Both include destination.

Despite the steep pricing, the vehicle has attracted over 90,000 reservations, evenly split between the two body styles. Due to strong demand, GMC has suspended the reservation process to build vehicles for customers who have switched their reservations to orders, and has not indicated when it will resume.
