2023 Nissan Armada starting at $52,495

The 2023 Nissan Armada will continue largely unchanged in the new year, with the only news being built-in Amazon Alexa support and a few new features on certain trim levels, and a slight price increase.

The current Armada was launched in 2016 as a 2017 model, but has been sold since 2010 in other markets where it is badged as a Patrol. So while the Armada received a refresh for the 2021 model year, it is certainly showing its age.

For the 2023 model year, the new Amazon Alexa voice control system allows drivers to play music, make phone calls, and connect to smart home devices. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included, along with wifi, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 7.0-inch display screen located in the instrument cluster. 13-speaker Bose audio system and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 8.0-inch screens.

Nissan maintains the S, SV, SL, and Platinum grades, but adds remote start, LED fog lights, and an automatic-opening/closing rearview mirror with universal garage door opener as standard equipment on SV models. In addition, a heated steering wheel is now standard on the SL.

The standard seating configuration is three rows of seats, with the second and third rows 60/40 split-folding, but captain's chairs are available in the second row. The Platinum model comes with quilted leather and 22-inch wheels.

The Armada associated with the Infiniti QX80 is powered by a 5.6-liter V-8 engine that produces 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive standard and four-wheel drive with an optional electronically controlled two-speed transfer case. This is clearly an older drivetrain, but the maximum towing capacity is respectable at 8,500 lbs.

The Armada also offers standard automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, automatic high beams, driver attention monitor, front and rear parking sensors, and a suite of expected driver assistance features, including Adaptive Cruise Control. The top-of-the-line Armada Platinum adds a rear camera mirror and surround-view camera system.

Prices start at $52,495 for the base rear-wheel-drive Armada S. This is $1,650 more than the 2022 model, reflecting a $1,550 higher MSRP and a $100 higher destination charge. Four-wheel drive is a $3,000 option, and Nissan charges $750 for second-row captain's chairs; the SL comes with a $1,990 Midnight Edition package that adds blacked-out trim; the 2023 Nissan Armada is available now; and the 2023 Nissan Armada is available for $3,000 with a $3,000 destination charge.
