The 2024 Hyundai Sonata will get a futuristic look
Hyundai has already completed the budget phase of Aston Martin and is looking toward the future.
On Sunday, the 2024 Hyundai Sonata debuted ahead of its official unveiling at the Seoul Motor Show on March 30. Light on details and long on design and technology updates, the refreshed Sonata seems to be blazing a new trail.
Gone is the Aston Martin-like grille. In its place is an exterior that looks as if it were inspired by "Robocop". The revamped exterior has a new front and rear end with full-width LED lighting, concealed inset horizontal headlights, and a grille that almost covers the entire front clip. The nose follows the styling of the 2024 Kona.
At the rear, a new black panel with textured finish sits below the full-width taillights. The sportier N-line models add quad exhaust tips and model-specific double 5-spoke 19-inch wheels. All Sonatas now feature a rear spoiler, and Hyundai says the updated aerodynamics will help both fuel economy and high-speed stability.
On the interior, the modified dashboard features two 12.3-inch screens mounted under a single sheet of curved glass. The digital meter cluster's tachometer and speedometer design is similar to that of the Ford F-150 and the upcoming 2024 Ford Explorer. The touchscreen also appears to feature a new interface not seen on previous Hyundais.
Hard buttons remain for core infotainment functions, along with a volume knob; two knobs are retained for the climate control system, but the new touchscreen interface will be the primary contact point for most climate controls. A new column-mounted shifter, similar to the Ioniq 5's, is located in the lower right corner of the steering column, and the three-spoke steering wheel is a new design.
Hyundai has not yet said anything about powertrains, efficiency, trim features, or pricing, other than to say that standard and N-line trims will be available. The automaker has not even said when the 2024 Sonata will arrive in the U.S.
Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
