Kia's big, boxy electric SUV is coming soon.

Kia will unveil the 2024 EV9 on March 15, with a full reveal expected later this month.

Two teaser videos released this week hint at what is to come. They reveal the light signature planned for the vehicle and its sculpted, almost Range Rover-like side profile.

The EV9 is a production version of the concept car of the same name that debuted at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show. Judging from teaser videos and spy shots of the prototype, the production version will closely resemble the handsome concept.

The interior has yet to be revealed, but is expected to be a toned-down version of the concept's cabin, with three rows of seats and a dashboard with a floating screen similar to those found in full-size Telluride.

Due to the packaging advantages of its electric powertrain, the EV9 should boast more interior space than the Telluride, despite the similar size of the two vehicles; the EV9 concept shown in L.A. is about 194 inches long, about 3 inches shorter than the Telluride.

Underpinning the vehicle is Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP platform. This platform features an 800-volt electrical system and bi-directional charging. It is not clear what Kia plans for the EV9's powertrain, but a range of at least 300 miles is expected depending on the grade; the EV9 is expected to be priced in the $50,000 range.

Kia plans to have 14 EVs in its lineup by as early as 2027, including a pickup truck to be built in the US.
