2024 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA with a maximum output of 416 hp makes its debut.
Mercedes-Benz on Wednesday unveiled updates to the updated 2024 CLA-Class, as well as AMG's spicy CLA 35 and CLA 45 S.
Like the regular CLA-Class, the updated CLA 35 and CLA 45 S have more performance in both, but only receive minor tweaks.
In the case of the CLA 35, the 2.0-liter turbo four remains rated at 302 hp, but the mild hybrid system now provides a temporary 13 hp power boost under heavy load.
The CLA 45 S, also powered by the 2.0-liter turbo four, is up 34 hp to 416 hp, a figure that the current CLA 45 S has offered since its launch overseas. The CLA 45 S is also newly available with the AMG Aerodynamics Package Plus, which includes a fixed rear spoiler.
Both AMG variants are equipped with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive: the CLA 35 goes from a standstill to 60 mph in an estimated 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph; the CLA 45 S takes 4.0 seconds and has a top speed of 167 mph.
The CLA 35 and CLA 45 S, as well as the rest of the 2024 CLA-Class series, feature redesigned lights inside, front and rear; the CLA 35 also has a revised grille, which AMG claims will help manage temperatures at the limit.
Other changes include new wheel patterns for both models, new interior trim materials, and an AMG Performance steering wheel with a double-spoke design and integrated controls for the drive mode selector as standard equipment.
The 2024 CLA-Class, including the AMG, will arrive at dealerships later this year. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
