Ehara Reveals Interior of Wild Electric SUV
Italian EV startup Aehra is planning to launch a radical SUV with supercar-like vertical elevating doors front and rear.
The company offered a first look at the vehicle, known simply as the Aehra SUV, in November and this week gave a glimpse of the interior.
The SUV's cabin will be roomy thanks to a wheelbase that stretches to 118 inches. Incidentally, the wheelbase of the full-size Cadillac Escalade is just under 3 inches longer. According to Aera, four NBA players can comfortably fit in the SUV. Buyers can choose between a four- or five-passenger configuration.
At the front of the cabin is a screen that spans the width of the dashboard, with smaller screens on either side that serve as displays for the camera-equipped side mirrors. This dashboard-wide screen can be extended upward when the vehicle is parked, turning the cabin into a lounge or Zoom-style meeting room.
There is also a small screen integrated with the rectangular steering wheel that can display key driving information. In addition, a tablet-like screen is mounted on the center stack and serves as the main input hub for functions such as navigation, climate control settings, and infotainment.
Traditional materials such as hand-sewn leather and carbon fiber are found elsewhere, and the seats are said to be similar to those found in supercars. They are designed not only for comfort, but also for support at high speeds. The seats are made from aluminum and recycled carbon fiber and lined with leather.
Design chief Filippo Perini designed the Aventador and Huracan supercars when he was designing for Lamborghini. The sedan will be unveiled next spring.
Aera will soon begin the process of obtaining its first external financing and, if all goes according to plan, will begin production of the SUV and sedan around late 2025. Key markets where the company plans to sell its vehicles include North America, Europe, China, and the Gulf states.
