2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tribute, celebrating Carrera's history
In August, Porsche unveiled the new 2023 911 GT3 RS, based on the latest generation 911 sports car. This reveal came 50 years after the launch of the original Carrera RS 2.7, the progenitor of the GT3 RS.
Porsche celebrated this anniversary with a retro design package for the GT3 RS that pays homage to the classic model.
Dubbed the Tribute to Carrera RS package, it was previewed in August during the 2022 Monterey Car Week. The package adds a white and python green livery that references one of the original Carrera RS 2.7 color combinations (the original green color was known as Viper Green).
This theme is continued in the python green wheels, black brake calipers, RS logo on the wing end plates with the American flag motif, and "PORSCHE" script on the underside of the wings.
Also added to the GT3 RS is the Weissach package, which includes leather trim in the cabin. The Weissach package adds carbon fiber to both the exterior and cabin. The interior also features green accent stitching, "RS" script on the center console lid, and illuminated door sills with "Tribute to Carrera RS" script.
The package also includes a Porsche-designed watch, several accessories, and an NFT program that unlocks digital badges for customers attending major race tracks and Porsche events.
A 2023 911 GT3 RS with this package costs $314,000, including a $1,450 destination charge; the GT3 RS alone starts at $225,250, with the Weissach package a $33,520 option.
The Carrera RS 2.7 was designed as a racing homologation special, with a unique engine that boosted output to 210 hp. This focused on weight reduction and improved aerodynamics compared to the standard 911, a formula also followed in the modern GT3 RS.
