Paulstar 4, a coupe-like SUV, is announced for 2023.
Swedish electric performance brand Polestar on Wednesday released teaser photos of its Polestar 4, due to arrive in 2023.
The Polestar 4 is a coupe-like SUV designed to compete with the electric Porsche Macan, which will also arrive in 2023, and the teaser suggests its general size and shape, as well as its signature taillights.
The teaser also shows the Paulstar 3 mid-size SUV, due in October, and the Paulstar 5 mid-size hatchback, due in 2024. Paulstar announced Tuesday that it will exhibit a camouflaged prototype of the Paulstar 5 at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England next week.
The Paulstar 3 is believed to ride on a version of Volvo's SPA2 platform, which will debut on the successor to the XC90, also scheduled for launch this year, while the Paulstar 4 will use a Paulstar-tweaked version of parent company Geely Automobile's SEA platform It is expected to.
The SEA platform debuted last year in the 001 hatchback from the same Geely brand, the Zeekr, and that model produced up to 536 hp. Polestar plans to equip the Polestar 4 with its own high-performance powertrain and chassis components. Paulstar is also developing its own bonded aluminum platform that will debut in the Paulstar 5.
With the new model, Polestar hopes to increase its sales tenfold from approximately 29,000 units in 2021 to 290,000 units by the end of 2025. To achieve this goal, Polestar is also rapidly expanding its sales network. The company has just entered its 25th market, up from just 10 in 2020, and plans to expand to 30 by the end of 2023
