A 2004 Porsche Carrera GT formerly owned by Jerry Seinfeld sold earlier this month through Bring a Trailer for $1,865,000.

Painted black and upholstered in dark gray leather, the Carrera GT was originally delivered to South Shore Porsche in Freeport, NY, and then purchased by Seinfeld from New York dealer Manhattan Motor Cars in January 2005. Seinfeld purchased the car from Manhattan Motor Cars, a New York dealer, in January 2005.

Seinfeld apparently owned the car until 2011, when it was moved to Oregon and purchased by the current owner in 2015. Offered through a dealer consignment sale in San Diego, the Carrera GT now has 3,700 miles on it. A copy of the New York title in Seinfeld's name was included in the sale to attest to his relationship with the comedian.

The Carrera GT became a Porsche icon, but was not initially intended to be produced; it was unveiled at the 2000 Paris International Motor Show and began as a pure concept car. However, Porsche had a V-10 engine on hand from the aborted Le Mans project, and the introduction of the Cayenne quickly made the company flush with cash.

Ultimately, 1,270 cars were built during a four-year production run beginning in 2003. In production form, the V-10 engine displaced 5.7 liters and produced 603 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission that, thanks to the Carrera GT's carbon fiber monocoque construction, only pushed the car's 3,042 lb. The car's carbon fiber monocoque construction only pushed the car's weight up 3,042 pounds.

While the value of the Carrera GT has skyrocketed in recent years, the price is certainly high. Another Carrera GT just set a bring-a-trailer record last September at $1.3 million. That car had 1,000 fewer miles on it than this one, but of course it has no celebrity connections.
