De Tomaso P72 dances on the ice during winter testing.
Suffering from electric SUV fatigue? No, De Tomaso does, to be exact.
De Tomaso, the modern-day version of the legendary Italian brand, has released a video taken during a recent winter testing session of its stunning P72 supercar.
The video offers multiple angles of the car on the move and also shows the 5.0-liter V-8 engine, sourced from Ford, as in the old De Tomaso, but tuned by Roush to extract over 700 hp.
The P72 will be first unveiled in 2019, and despite the disruption caused by the pandemic, the car is nearing the end of its exhaustive development program. De Tomaso has confirmed that deliveries will begin in the first half of 2023.
The P72 in the video appears to be the same as the original concept unveiled in 2019, but there have been many changes on the road to production, including the development of a new carbon fiber monocoque and a new factory. De Tomaso is both working with the German Capricon Group, which helped Porsche build the highly successful 919 Hybrid LMP1 racing car.
Unfortunately, de Tomaso will build only 72 P72s, and finding a P72 in the wild is no easy task. Let's hope de Tomaso produces more videos like this one.
