Fisker introduces electric supercar
Fisker has unveiled its first look at an electric supercar currently under development.
CEO and Chairman Henrik Fisker posted a teaser image on Twitter on Wednesday that appeared to be under aerodynamic modeling. The teaser images were quickly removed from Twitter, but not before Motor1 took these screenshots.
In a message posted with the teaser, Fisker stated that the supercar would be located in a segment that does not currently exist. Judging from the teaser, the new supercar will likely be a convertible.
This is the first time Fisker has mentioned a supercar, but there are rumors that at least one of the two models being worked on by the UK-based Fisker Magic Works special projects division, which was announced last fall, is a supercar. The other model is rumored to be a high-end SUV.
It is not clear when the Fisker supercar will be launched. Currently, the company has its hands full with its first model, the Ocean crossover. Production of the Ocean is scheduled to begin later this year at the Magna Steyr plant in Austria. Fisker is also developing a more affordable EV that is expected to go into production around 2024 at a plant operated by Foxconn. The plant, located in Lordstown, Ohio, is in the process of being sold to Foxconn by rival EV startup Lordstown Motors.
Fisker has also shown off a lifestyle pickup truck, and in the past has hinted at a coupe-like crossover and super sedan.
