Apollo announces new hypercar and electric coupe.
Apollo, which made its name around the world in 2019 with the insane hypercar Intensa Emozione, is currently developing its successor, code-named Project Evo, as well as expanding into the burgeoning electric vehicle segment.
The company unveiled several concepts at the China International Import Expo 2021 trade fair in Shanghai on Friday, including the Project Evo hypercar and the EVision S electric coupe. The company also presented a video of the EVision X electric crossover concept.
Few details were given, except that the Project Evo will feature a carbon fiber monocoque structure that exceeds LMP2 standards, while the EVision S will have room for four adults.
Other concepts include an electric powertrain and electric delivery vehicle developed as a showcase for engineering services offered through a new in-house consulting division called Apollo Advanced Technologies. The electric powertrain, known as the Crate Powertrain, operates on an 800-volt system and is claimed to have a silicon carbide inverter ideal for high efficiency.
To oversee its expanding operations, Apollo has created the Apollo Future Mobility Group (AFMG), which includes the Apollo Automobil hypercar division and the new Apollo Advanced Technologies consulting division. AFMG has also invested in American Divergent 3D, a 3D printing technology company with ties to rival hypercar manufacturer Zinger. [AFMG Chairman Ho King van Erik said in a statement, "Our group provides the industry with a full range of services to accelerate innovation, from design, engineering, simulation, prototyping, prototype testing, and pre-production prototypes to ."
