2023 BMW Alpina B3 spy shots: witness the updated sports sedan.
One of the best Alpina's we are missing in the US is the B3, based on the BMW 3 Series.
Available in sedan and wagon body styles, the B3 is a great alternative to the BMW M3, especially for buyers looking for understated performance.
BMW is currently working on a mid-cycle update of the 3 Series, a prototype of which was recently spotted at the Nürburgring in Germany. And now a prototype of the Alpina version of the 3 Series has been spotted.
There are new headlights and grille elements, which will be common to the updated 3 Series. It will also have new fascias front and rear and Alpina wheels.
According to the photographer, the dashboard will be completely covered and is expected to feature a new dashboard with a floating screen similar to that found on the battery-powered i4. This should also be used in the updated B3.
It is not clear what mechanical improvements are planned. The current B3 is powered by the same 3.0-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder that is normally found in the M340i; the B3's engine is powered by two turbochargers that produce 462 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. With these figures, owners can enjoy 0-60 mph acceleration approaching 4.0 seconds and a top speed in excess of 186 mph.
Completing the mechanical package is an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive system.
The updated 3 Series will arrive next year as a 2023 model. Alpina's arrival is a few months behind BMW's. The Alpina version of the latest BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe should appear at about the same time.
