2021 Hennessey Venom 775 F-150 ready to terrorize TRX.
While Ford continues to develop its V-8-powered F-150 Raptor R to challenge the Ram 1500TRX in the performance pickup wars, Hennessey Performance Engineering has decided to enter the ring with its own F-150-based product.
Hennessey's challenger is the new Venom 775 F-150, powered by a supercharged V-8 that delivers 775 hp and 685 lb-ft of torque. This is comparable to the TRX, which delivers 702 hp and 650 lb-ft from the factory.
Hennessey is also quick to point out that the Venom 775 F-150 has a significant weight advantage over the TRX thanks to the aluminum body of the donor pickup. In other words, the Hennessey should be much more agile than the TRX. It should also stop more quickly. Although Hennessey does not mention brake upgrades, they will probably want to upgrade their brakes as well.
The Venom 775 F-150 starts as a regular F-150 Platinum SuperCrew with a 5.0-liter V-8, 10-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive. For significantly more power than the stock 400 hp, Hennessey adds a 3.0-liter supercharger, a cold-air induction system, upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pump, and a stainless steel exhaust system.
The Hennessey has a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds and a quarter-mile ET of 12.0 seconds at 117 mph. This is quite fast for a full-size pickup.
Buyers who want to build the ultimate street truck can add extras such as coilovers and a suspension lowering kit with traction bars. Hennessey also offers the option of 22-inch wheels.
More buyers, however, will opt for Hennessey's off-road upgrades. These include a custom bull bar with driving lights, a custom rear bumper, a suspension lift kit with leveling kit for the front suspension, and 20-inch wheels with 35-inch off-road tires.
Pricing for the Venom 775 F-150 starts at $110,000, including the cost of the donor F-150, and just 100 will be built in 2021.
