The new Aston Martin DBX has been spotted during testing at the Nürburgring.

At first glance, the car appears to be a production car, but a yellow sticker on the rear windshield indicates that it is an electrified model. This sticker is mandatory during testing at the Nürburgring and alerts rescuers that the car is electrified in the event of an accident.

Production of the DBX has just begun in 2020, but already this midsize crossover accounts for 50% of Aston Martin's sales. Naturally, Aston Martin is preparing new variants to meet this demand.

This week, Motor Trend magazine reported that up to six variants are possible, including a new body style. According to the magazine, the variant being tested will be a light hybrid. It is expected to be unveiled later this year.

A plug-in hybrid will also be available, but it will have to wait until 2023. It is known that the DBX being tested is not a hybrid as it does not have charging ports.

The DBX's hybrid setup is expected to be similar to the one used by Mercedes-Benz AMG in the current 53 Series. This system consists of a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine and an electric starter motor, which is boosted to assist the engine at high loads and recover energy during braking. There is also an electric compressor that helps the turbocharger increase boost at low speeds. Maximum output is 429 hp and maximum torque is 384 lb-ft.

According to the photographer, the DBX was different from the regular V8 models: the V8-powered DBX also used an AMG engine developing 542 hp and 516 lb-ft. of torque. lb-ft, a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine was installed. We are told that this V8 engine will also be used in future DBX plug-in hybrids, such as the Valhalla plug-in hybrid hypercar.

The DBX Mild Hybrid is expected to go on sale in 2022 as a 2023 model. Aston Martin has already announced the 2022 DBX with new paint and trim options, as well as new wheels. The options list also includes sport seats and a wireless charging pad for mobile devices.
