2022 Jeep Compass-based 3-row crossover spy shots: compact family hauler in development
Jeep was spotted testing a new three-row crossover in Europe.
This mystery model is a compact proposal that will likely skip the U.S. It is related to the Compass and was first unveiled by Jeep's parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (now Sterantis), at its 2018 presentation, where it was called the "Low D 3 -Row" crossover, as it was called.
The Compass itself will be updated soon, and we are likely to see this three-row crossover appear at about the same time, possibly badged Compass L, just as the new three-row Grand Cherokee is called Grand Cherokee L It will probably be badged Compass L, just as the new three-row Grand Cherokee is called Grand Cherokee L.
Although fairly camouflaged, the front section of the three-row crossover can be seen to resemble the front section of the updated Compass prototype. The stretched body is unique to the three-row version, and while it is believed to have room for seven passengers, the rear seats will most likely only accommodate small children.
Jeep already sells a compact three-row crossover in China that is related to the Cherokee. Called the Grand Commander, it was launched in 2018. This Compass-based three-row crossover will offer the same compact size and three-row practicality to buyers in other parts of the world, and possibly China.
It is probably too small for the U.S., so don't expect it here. Instead, Jeep has introduced the new Grand Cherokee L (2022) to the market for large families. Jeep also has the new 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer for buyers who need maximum space and a little luxury. With these new members, Jeep will have a total of five models with third-row seating in its global lineup.
